How to Produce A Film (And Let Uncle Sam Pay For It )

March 8, 2008 by pablo

I live in Venice, CA, not too far away from the fabled city of “Hollywood”. Now, if you know anything about Los Angeles you know that 99.99 % of people here are involved in the entertainment business. Every barista, waitress, valet and C.E.O. has a script to finish, or an audition scheduled for later. It is a one-industry town. Some “make it”, most don’t. It’s the sad reality of supply and demand.

What excited me about this business is the opportunity to make a real contribution to our society’s dialogue through film and education. We did that with Runnin’ At Midnite, and we are set to it again with Libertad.

With the uniquness of Project Libertad, we can now offer everyone to make a significant contribution to the project. Through a partnership with Fractured Atlas, we are offering our supporters a chance to make a tax deductible contribution to the film. Project Libertad is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of Project Libertad may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

This is the perfect opportunity for everyone to add “producer” to your resume! By donating to PL you will be supporting:

  • a youth workshop that will reach kids mired in poverty and give them a chance to learn the skills that those of us more fortunate take for granted.
  • a feature film that centers around important and socially relevant topics
  • the spirit of independent cinema! We are not backed by the studio system. No $100 lunches here. No inflated and bloated salaries. In fact, no salaries at all!

Remember the last time you walked out of a film and said “I could have done better”. Okay, now is your chance to put your support behind the artists who are in fact bringing new and different stories to you.

Big or small, donate today. It will go along way to realizing the full potential of this project. And give you a chance to beef up that Hollywood resume!!!!
